Shelter's 2013 Class Schedule

Dogs love Shelter!
The 2013 Shelter classes have begun! We've kicked off the year with our winter Purely Post & Beam Course. (Follow us on Facebook and see the class in action.) If you've considered taking a class at Shelter, make this the year to join us at our Woolwich, Maine campus.

We've added classes this year to our Design Build, Post and Beam, and weekend workshop series offerings. We've changed our schedule a bit over the past month (to make room for returning to the Common Ground Fair), so if you received a class schedule in the mail, be sure to check for schedule changes in our fall offerings.

We've brought back our very popular Small Housebuilding course (June 10-14). This class is designed to provide the basic skills and knowledge needed to build a complete little structure. We are building a house that is less than 200 square feet in five days! A special feature of this structure is that it's designed to be a taken apart and reassembled. When completed, this little structure will be easy to transport and re-assemble in a new location. All the details from foundation options to door-hanging details to roofing will be completed in five short days.
Sharpen your skills at Shelter.

We've also added some carving courses with expert carver Ken Wise. These courses are great for a beginning carver or for a seasoned carver who wants to spend time working with a master.

Shelter classes have been listed by DownEast Magazine as an Editor's Choice for best Maine working vacation. If you're looking for a great summer learning retreat or a fun winter break, read about our classes on the Shelter Build blog, review the Shelter Institute website course offerings, or contact us for details.

Remember too that some of our courses qualify for education tax breaks or Veteran's education benefits. Call for details.
