Structural Insulated Panels Workshop for Architects

If you are not currently building or designing with Structural Insulated Panels, better known as SIPs, you have probably heard about them. We are offering a free informational workshop entitled, "Structural Insulated Panels-Building a Better Way" on Friday, June 1, 2010, at our campus from 12-1:00. (Brown bag lunch available for $12.) This presentation is an AIA approved program and qualifies for continuing education units. Please contact us for more information.

Shelter Institute was started in 1974 with an emphasis on building energy-efficient houses that free their owners from costly maintenance and high heating and cooling bills. A super-insulated, airtight shell, with properly planned ventilation, is a critical component in creating a home with low heating and cooling costs. To consistently accomplish this aspect of construction we started installing SIPs 25 years ago. As you know, today’s building marketplace demands ever-increasing energy efficiency, and SIPs deliver a flexible and economical solution.

If you'd like to read more about Shelter's work with SIPs and creating energy efficient homes, here is a link to some recent blog posts on the subject: shelterbuild.com/search/label/SIPs

Please join us for this introduction to SIPs, their benefits, challenges, and the many design opportunities they provide. We hope to see you on the 1st.
